Law no. 150 of 2000 establishes the Public Relations Office as one of the principal instruments for the public administration to relate and communicate with the public.
According to the law, anyone who manages public relations has to give priority to the activities of the public administration, giving citizens the opportunity to participate ad have access to them. The PR offices have to guarantee their constant involvement in the public administration acts, following the boundaries of the administrative process.
The importance of the PR is recalled in the Guidelines for Public Administration websites (art.4 of the Legislation n. 8 of 2009 of the Minister for Reform and Innovation in the Public Administration) establishes, among other requirements, the accessibility of the PR information from the home page.
